What format of audio file is required by 3CX and how do you convert to the correct format

Modified on Thu, 6 Jan, 2022 at 7:54 AM

Audio recordings are a tricky thing. You need to account for every possible phone and its ability to process good clear audio. You also need to account for the server’s ability to play hundreds of streams at the same time. Because of this, a sweet spot needs to be found in audio clarity and file size.

Here is the supported 3CX Audio File format and setting:

  • 8000 Hz
  • 16-bit
  • Mono
  • PCM-encoding
  • WAV format

File format should be: greeting.wav

Note:

You can use any audio converter to apply these settings. 3CX also has one here. https://www.3cx.com/docs/converting-wav-file/
