Firmware Upgrade Loop - Yealink T5X Series

Modified on Fri, 15 Nov at 9:57 AM

Due to a programming oversight, Some Yealink T5X Series phones (T53, T53W, T54, T54W etc.) on Firmware X.84.X.X may not have enough available space onboard to fully download a firmware upgrade to the latest stable X.86.X.X, this can cause the phone to get stuck at downloading (typically around 71%).

In some cases rebooting the phone is not enough to resolve the issue, as it will retry the firmware upgrade upon re-provisioning. To exit the upgrade loop and apply the firmware upgrades please follow the below procedure:

1) Note down the Model, MAC, Web Admin Password and any other extension customization

2) Delete the handset from the extension

3) Have the phone rebooted - it will not re-attempt firmware upgrade or provisioning as 3cx is no longer holding a configuration file for it

4) Log into the web UI and apply the special firmware 96.86.0.18 followed by 96.86.0.23

5) Add the handset back onto the extension in 3cx and provision as it was

6) Push the latest firmware upgrade via 3CX Phones tab
